TYPES OF SLOPE CLOSURE
When you buy earrings, the first thing you usually notice is their design, the materials they are made of, whether you feel comfortable with them, and, ultimately, the most eye-catching part. However, there is a very important aesthetic detail that needs to be considered and usually takes a back seat: we are talking about the types of earring clasps. Have you ever had trouble putting on or taking off your earrings? Every design is determined by its type of clasp, which adapts to the tastes and needs of each person.
There are various types of earring clasps that you may not know about. Well, in this article we will reveal what they are so you have a much clearer idea when choosing one model or another:

- Push clasp
This type of clasp is the most common and widely used in jewelry due to its comfort. It is also known as a nut clasp. It can be simple, screw-on, or butterfly, the latter being the safest and most used since, having a small groove, it perfectly holds the post or “stick” and the nut that joins them is tightened. It is not recommended to apply too much force, as the post is usually fragile. They are very easy to put on, comfortable, and hold the earring perfectly to the ear. You can even sleep with this type of earrings, as it is very unlikely to tear the earlobe.

2. Omega clasp
Its name comes from its resemblance to the letter of the Greek alphabet. This type of clasp is one of the most classic and traditional and is usually used in heavier or larger earrings, such as those with stones or pearls, because it fits the earlobe, holds the piece better, and does not cause discomfort to the wearer.

3. Hook or hippie type clasp
It is one of the most popular clasps due to its ease of putting on, especially among young people. They can be open or closed and are generally used for earrings that hang below the earlobe. One of the drawbacks of this type of clasp, in our opinion, is that with prolonged use, the ear loses definition and sags, causing the earlobe to be visible. You also have to be careful when taking off a garment over the head so that the earring does not get caught or lost.

4. Catalan clasp
The Catalan clasp is a mix between the pressure clasp and the hook clasp and works as follows: you have to fit a hinged lever into a small hole on the other end of the earring. To make sure it is properly closed, you should hear a small click when fitting it. It is one of the safest and most used clasps in the jewelry world, since being fully hooked it is very unlikely to open.

5. Clip clasp
This type of clasp is characterized by its comfort, as it does not require piercing the earlobe to wear it. It is a very good option if you want to cover an earlobe that visually looks worn. On the other hand, this clasp is less secure, since it is not pierced in the ear, it is more likely to come loose. Within this class, we can distinguish two types of clasps: the normal clip or the screw type. The latter was widely used during the 60s and nowadays it is very difficult to find, since the other clasps we have been discussing predominate.
6. Congo or African clasp
It is especially used in hoops. This clasp consists of a very thin bar that fits into the opposite part of the hoop, completely closing the gold.
